Crew History

Skeena Initial Attack started as district forestry crews that were hired by the Prince Rupert Forest District to help with initial fire responses. From 1988 to 1992, Skeena Initial Attack was comprised of one ministry initial attack (IA) crew and 2 contract IA crews working out of Terrace Forward Attack Base.

From there, Skeena Initial Attack only grew. In 1993, they grew to having two ministry IA crews. In 2017, they grew to three IA crews. In 2023, Skeena switched all their IA crews from three person crews to four person crews.

The most recent change was the introduction of a fourth IA crew in 2025.
