After anticipated lightning activity in much of the province, B.C. saw a jump in the number of wildfires with 80 new fires in the last four days, 50 of which have been determined to have been caused by lightning.
On Thursday, August 4, a campfire prohibition will be implemented for the Kamloops Fire Centre. More information on the prohibition can be found here.
Currently, there are two wildfires of note. The Nohomin Creek Wildfire and Keremeos Creek Wildfire. Updates on both can be found on the Wildfire of Note pages.
Weather Forecast
Today, temperatures will remain seasonal in the north and begin to drop in a few areas of the south. However, dry conditions will remain.
Tomorrow and into the week expect temperatures to continue to drop in the south and for winds to continue in western regions. In the north, precipitation is expected alongside unsettled conditions.
Warmer conditions are expected next weekend in the south, with the north remaining seasonal. with periodic precipitation.
