KAMLOOPS – The BC Wildfire Service in partnership with Simpcw First Nation and the Chu Chua Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting a prescribed burn project approximately 10 kilometers north of the municipality of Barriere.
This project will be approximately 32 hectares in size and may be visible from Highway 5, the locality of Chu Chua and the municipality of Barriere. Burning is expected to begin as early as March 18, 2024 and may be conducted until the end of April, or until grass is too mature to burn.
This prescribed burn is critical in providing community protection and cross training opportunities for the Simpcw First Nation, Chu Chua Volunteer Fire Department and the BC Wildfire Service.
