100 MILE HOUSE – The BC Wildfire Service will be supporting the 100 Mile House Fire Department in conducting a pile burning project at Centennial Park within the District of 100 Mile House.
Burning may begin as early as today, March 5, 2025. Pile burning will only proceed if conditions are favourable and allow for venting.
Smoke may be visible to the 100 Mile House community and to motorists travelling along Highway 97. BC Wildfire Service personnel and the 100 Mile House Fire Department will carefully prepare, control and monitor these piles at all times.

Exposure to smoke from wildfires or prescribed burning can irritate eyes and respiratory tracts and worsen pre-existing lung and heart conditions. If your area is impacted by smoke:
- Run portable air cleaners with windows and doors closed. Both commercial and home-made units (https://rb.gy/90uh5s) can be effective if operated properly.
- Reduce the length and intensity of outdoor activities.
- Manage pre-existing conditions, and seek medical care if you have severe symptoms.
