KAMLOOPS – The BC Wildfire Service will be supporting Recreation Sites and Trails BC in conducting a fuels management project at Pendleton Creek Recreation Site and Isobel Lake Recreation Site. Crews will be burning 10-15 piles at each site for a total of approximately 30 piles.
The purpose of this project is to help reduce wildfire hazards by reducing accumulations of fuels (e.g., tree limbs, woody debris, organic material) from previous rehabilitation work in the area.
Smoke may be visible from Kamloops and surrounding areas, and to motorists travelling along Highway 97 and the Lac Du Bois FSR. The exact timing of this burn will depend on weather and site conditions, but it could begin as early as Tuesday, March 10. Burning will proceed if conditions are suitable and allow for smoke dispersal during burn operations, though smoke may also linger in the following days.
