Pile burning in Anglemont

SALMON ARM – The BC Wildfire Service is supporting the Okanagan Shuswap Resource District and Anglemont Fire Department in burning approximately 250 piles of wood debris as part of an ongoing Wildfire Risk Reduction (WRR) project in the Anglemont area within the Vernon Fire Zone. Assistance in the burning of these piles will begin on Tuesday, March 26, and conclude on Wednesday, March 27.

As part of the WRR project, the Anglemont Fire Department will be assisting the Okanagan Shuswap Resource District in monitoring these piles in the interface area. Smoke and/or flames may be visible from Anglemont and surrounding areas.

Burning will proceed only if conditions are suitable to allow smoke to dissipate.
