SMITHERS – The BC Wildfire Service will be burning grass in a field on the north side of Highway 16 at 6 Mile Hill, approximately 7.5 kilometres east of Topley. This project is a collaboration between BC Wildfire Service and the Nadina Natural Resource District.
The total area to be burned is about 2.5 hectares.
The exact timing will depend on site, weather and venting conditions, but may occur anytime between Wednesday, April 8 and Friday, April 24. Staff from the BC Wildfire Service will carefully control and monitor this fire.
Smoke will be visible to motorists travelling along Highway 16 and may be visible from Topley and other surrounding communities.
