Changes to area restrictions in the Prince George Fire Centre



PRINCE GEORGE – Effective at 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, the Area Restriction for the Donnie Creek (G80280) wildfire will be rescinded. Additionally, as of 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, the existing area restrictions for the Bivouac Creek (G52955), Whitefish Lake (G51564) and Big Creek (G60666) wildfires will expire and will not be renewed.

A new Area Restriction will be implemented in the vicinity of the Big Creek wildfire. This Order takes effect on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at 12 p.m. (noon) and remains in force until the earlier of Sunday, October 15, 2023, or until the Order is rescinded.

This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries illustrated and described below:
Starting at coordinate A (55° 50.352’N, -125° 14.169’W); then heading E to coordinate B (55° 50.166’N, -124° 44.419’W); then heading SE to coordinate C (55° 42.562’N, -124° 33.281’W); then heading SW to coordinate D (55° 41.896’N, -124° 34.330’W); then heading NW to coordinate E (55° 42.895’N, -124° 41.026’W); then heading NW to coordinate F (55° 46.428’N, -124° 48.457’W); then W to coordinate G (55° 47.755’N, -125° 14.162’W) then N back to starting point coordinate A.

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person enters the area only in the course of:

(a) Travelling to or from his or her residence;
(b) Travelling through or entering the area as a person acting in an official capacity; or
(c) Travelling through or entering the area for an approved purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
