Crew History

The Blackwater Unit Crew was initially established in Riske Creek as one of the original unit crews in 1992. They were previously named Riske Creek Unit Crew. In 2002, the crew was moved to Quesnel and renamed to Blackwater Unit Crew.

The name comes from the Blackwater River which is located along the northern border of the Quesnel Fire Zone.

This unit crew also has a long standing Junior Fire Crew Member program that has been running since 2009.
