Area Restriction in effect for vicinity of wildfire G52123



PRINCE GEORGE – The BC Wildfire Service is implementing an Area Restriction Order for the vicinity of wildfire G52123 in the Fort St. James zone. The size of the area restriction reflects the continued need to protect the public and first responders in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities.

This Order takes effect at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, and remains in effect until Oct. 15, 2024, at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT, or until it is otherwise rescinded.

This Area Restriction Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below and as outlined in the map that follows.

West Boundary

Point of commencement is on Hat New Section road (South of Hat Lake) at Coordinate A (54° 46.383′, -124° 9.698′). Head due north to the intersection of permit road R21682 DI and R21682 DO at Coordinate B (54° 53.610′, -124° 16.943′).

North Boundary

Follow the northern edge of permit roads R21682 DI, Germansen Landing Rd, R18659 CP431-1 Access, and R18659 A-0OT-0004-ROAD east to the intersection with Kilner Creek FSR at Coordinate C (54° 53.258′, -123° 59.854′). Follow Kilner Creek FSR south to junction with Cripple FSR at Coordinate D (54° 52.961′, -123° 59.742′). Follow the northern edge of Cripple FSR east to the junction with permit road R22848 at Coordinate E (54° 53.266′, -123° 54.625′).

East Boundary

Follow permit road R22848 to terminus at Coordinate F (54° 52.446′, -123° 54.054′). Go southerly 8.84km at a bearing 174.93 degrees to Coordinate G (54° 47.702′, -123° 53.325′), a point on permit road R22649A. Follow permit road R22649A south to junction with Tsilcoh FSR at Coordinate H (54° 46.886′, -123° 53.011′).

South Boundary

Follow Tsilcoh FSR, Hat Road, and Hat New Section Road east to Point of Commencement.

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person enters the area only in the course of:

(a) Travelling to or from their primary residence;
(b) Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act;
(c) Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity; or
(d) Traveling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
