Area restriction in effect for the Netalzul Creek area



SMITHERS – The BC Wildfire Service is implementing an Area Restriction Order for the vicinity of Netalzul Creek around wildfire R31901. The size of the Area Restriction reflects the continued need to protect the public and first responders in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities.

This Order will take effect immediately and remain in effect until September 13, 2024 at 12 p.m. (noon), or until the Order is rescinded.

This Area Restriction Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below and as outlined in the map that follows.

North Boundary:

  • From point C following a bearing of 280.41 for 4.73 Km to point D 55° 18.015′ -127° 6.871′ where an unnamed creek joins the Suskwa River.
  • From Point D, following the south-eastern banks of the Suskwa River to Point E at 55° 16.554′ -127° 10.212′ on the Hamblin Main.

West Boundary:

  • From point E, following the eastern limit of the Hamblin Main Right of Way to the end of the Hamblin Main which is Point F at 55° 13.082′ -127° 7.864′ to point F. From Point F at a bearing of 136.11 for 5.92 Km to Point G, the end of the 338 Road at 55° 10.783′ -127° 4.022′.

South Boundary:

  • Travelling along the 338 Road from Point G to Point H 55° 8.810′ -126° 53.463′ where the 338 Road intersects with the deactivated R09511 341-1A spur road.
  • From Point H to Point A following a bearing of 77.78 degrees for 3.14 Km.
  • From point A, the Moan Bridge on the Upper Fulton FSR located at 55° 9.169′ -126° 50.574′ towards the start of Moan Creek at Point B, 55° 12.418′ -126° 48.358′.

East Boundary:

  • From point B following a bearing of 302.43 degrees for 17.77 Km to Point C at 55° 17.558′ -127° 2.508′.

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person enters the area only in the course of:

(a) Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity; or

(b) Traveling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities.
