Area Restriction in effect for Sakeniche River area



PRINCE GEORGE – The BC Wildfire Service is issuing an Area Restriction Order for the vicinity of several wildfires located in the Fort St. James zone and the bordering area of the Northwest Fire Centre. The size of the area restriction reflects the continued need to protect the public in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities and hazardous fire behaviour conditions.

This Order takes effect at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, and remains in force until the earlier of Oct. 15, 2024, or until the Order is rescinded.

This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below:

North and East Boundary:

Commencing at a point on the natural boundary of Takla Lake at Coordinate A (55° 12.413′, -125° 58.074′), follow the edge of Takla Lake to Coordinate B (55° 3.373′, -125° 30.874′), a point on the natural boundary of Takla Lake.

South Boundary:

Follow the Gloyazikut Creek drainage to the West to the intersection of Gloyazikut Creek and R09740 Klaytahndut at Coordinate C (54° 58.424′, -125° 45.169′). Then follow permit roads R09740 Klaytahndut, R05248 HB3822 &183 to the west, to the terminus of R23218 TOCH0865.1 at Coordinate D (55° 0.325′, -125° 49.872′). Head Northwesterly for 318 meters at a bearing of 320 degrees to Coordinate E (55° 0.457′, -125° 50.062′), a point on permit road R05248 HB3838. Follow to the Northwest permit roads R05248 173/1-3 & HB3847 & HB3838, R06393 HB3850 to Coordinate F (55° 1.427′, -125° 52.794′), a point on permit road R06393 HB3850. Head Northwesterly for 502 meters at a bearing of 314 degrees to Coordinate G (55°1.615′, -125° 53.131′), a point on permit road R06393 CP172. Follow road permits R06393 CP172 and 171 to Coordinate H (55° 3.949′, -125° 58.365′), a point on permit road R06393 CP171.

West Boundary:

Head Northerly for 1,414 meters at a bearing of 0 degrees to Coordinate I (55° 4.711′, -125°58.364′), a point on the natural boundary of Natowite Lake. Follow the natural boundary of Natowite Lake to Coordinate J (55° 6.354′, -126° 2.119′). Head Northerly for 8,924 meters at a bearing of 333 degrees to Coordinate K (55° 8.249′, -126° 2.121′), a point on the natural boundary of East Hautete Lake. Follow Northerly along the natural boundary of East Hautete Lake to Coordinate L (55° 9.476′, -126° 1.464′), a point on the natural boundary of East Hautete Lake. Head Northeasterly for 2,135 meters at a bearing of 69 degrees to Coordinate M (55° 9.897′, -125° 59.593′), at the intersection of Sakeniche FSR and permit road R01558. Continue Northwesterly along permit road R01558 to Coordinate N (55° 12.325′, -125° 58.337′), a point along permit road R01558. Head Northeasterly for 323 meters at a bearing of 60 degrees to the Point of Commencement.

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person:

Enters the area only in the course of:
(a)
Travelling to or from his or her residence;
(b) Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act;
(c) Entering the area as a person acting in an official capacity; or
(d) Entering the area for an approved purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
