Area restriction in effect for the Sea Lion Mountain area

CASTLEGAR – The BC Wildfire Service continues to respond to the Sea Lion Mountain wildfire (N41412). This wildfire is estimated to be 250 hectares and is located in the Sea Lion Mountain area, 27 km northeast of the Town of Golden.

In the interest of public and responder safety, this area restriction takes effect at 12:00 p.m. (noon) PT on August 6, 2026, and remains in place until the earlier of 12:00 p.m. (noon) PT on October 15, 2026, or until the Order is rescinded.

This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below and as outlined on the attached map:

Commencing at Point A: Intersection of Blaeberry FSR & M32 (51° 31.166′, -116° 57.077′)
From the Point A, Intersection of Blaeberry FSR & M32 (51° 31.166′, -116° 57.077′), travel northeast along Blaeberry FSR to Point B, Intersection of Blaeberry FSR & Mather FSR (51° 31.817′, -116° 55.796′)
From Point B, Intersection of Blaeberry FSR & Mather FSR (51° 31.817′, -116° 55.796′), travel 4,992m at a bearing of 119.44° to Point C, Mount Laussedat at (51° 34.307′, -116° 57.424′)
From Point C, Mount Laussedat at (51° 34.307′, -116° 57.424′), travel along the height of land north to Point D, Mount Poland (51° 38.455′, -116° 48.282′)
From Point D, Mount Poland (51° 38.455′, -116° 48.282′), travel 5,032m at a bearing of 78.01° to Point E, Mount Cairnes (51° 41.010′, -116° 46.827′)
From Point E, Mount Cairnes (51° 41.010′, -116° 46.827′), travel 6,306m at a bearing of 321.93° to Point F, Height of land (51° 38.586′, -116° 42.992′)
From Point F, Height of land (51° 38.586′, -116° 42.992′), along the height of land south to Point G, Hagen NE2 (51° 35.987′, -116° 41.447′)
From Point G, Hagen NE2 (51° 35.987′, -116° 41.447′) south along the border of Yoho National Park to Point H, Spike Peak (51° 25.752′, -116° 47.389′)
From Point H, Spike Peak (51° 25.752′, -116° 47.389′) west along the height of land to Point I, Height of land (51° 29.170′, -116° 55.124′)
From Point I, Height of land (51° 29.170′, -116° 55.124′), travel 4,340m at a bearing of 128.67° returning to Point A, Intersection of Blaeberry FSR & M32 (51° 31.166′, -116° 57.077′)

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person:

Enters the area only in the course of:

Travelling to or from his or her principal residence, that is not under evacuation an order;
Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act;
Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity as defined in s.56 of the Wildfire Act;
Travelling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression or enforcement patrol activities.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
