Smoke from pile burning near Brookmere will be visible to nearby communities



MERRITT – The BC Wildfire Service will be conducting a fuel management project located approximately 3.5 kilometres west of the Village of Brookmere.

BC Wildfire Service crews will be working to burn approximately 10 piles starting as early as Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, through to the middle of November. This project is taking place for community protection purposes.

Smoke from piles may be visible to residents from the Village of Brookmere and along Highway 5. Pile burning will only proceed if conditions are favourable. BC Wildfire Service personnel will carefully prepare, control and monitor these piles at all times.
