Area Restriction amended for the Calcite Creek wildfire (K61067)



KAMLOOPS – The BC Wildfire Service has amended an Area Restriction Order within the vicinity of the Calcite Creek wildfire (K61067), which is located approximately 41 kilometres south of Princeton. This Order takes effect at 12:00 (noon) Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on August 13, 2024, and will remain in force until 12:00 (noon) PDT on August 27, 2024, or until the Order is rescinded.

This area restriction reflects the need to protect public and BC Wildfire Service personnel safety in areas where fire suppression activities are taking place.

Under section 11(1) of the Wildfire Act, and pursuant to the authority delegated by the Minister of Forests, to address a public safety concern arising from the Calcite Creek Wildfire (K61067) and to avoid interference with fire control in an area restriction has been implemented.

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area unless the person:

  1. Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity.
  2. Travelling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities.
  3. Travelling to or from his or her principal residence, that is not under an evacuation order.
  4. Travelling to or from his or her private or leased property for the purposes of accessing his or her secondary residence or recreational property, that is not under an evacuation order.
  5. Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act; or
  6. Engaging and/or participating in agricultural activities pertaining to livestock or agriculture management on Crown Range, Crown Grazing Lease, private or leased property.

This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below and as outlined in the heavy black dashed and shaded grey line on the attached map.

West Boundary: Commencing at Point 1(49° 0.013′, -120° 38.722′) at the junction of EC Manning Provincial Park and the Canada-USA International Border, travel north along the east border of EC Manning Provincial Park to Point 2 (49° 8.058′, -120° 37.208′) at the junction of Highway 3 and the EC Manning Provincial Park east border.

North Boundary: Commencing at Point 2 travel northeast along Highway 3 to Point 3(49° 9.459′, -120° 35.043′) at the junction of Highway 3 and Crowley Creek FSR (FSR9987 Sec 01). Take a bearing of 116° and travel 1553 metres to Point 4(49° 9.093′, -120° 33.893′), at the Junction of Road Permit R07751 Sec 39-21 and Road Permit R07751 Sec 39-4. Travel west along Road Permit R07751 Sec 39-4 to Point 5(49° 10.351′, -120° 29.325′) at the Junction of Road Permit R07751 Sec 39-4 and Placer Mountain FSR (FSR0919 Sec 01).

East Boundary: Commencing at Point 5 travel along Placer Mountain FSR (FSR0919 Sec 01) and Placer Creek FSR (FSR0919 Sec 03) to Point 6(49° 9.375′, -120° 29.885′), at the junction of Placer Creek FSR (FSR0919 Sec 03) and Road Permit R07751 Sec 39-70. Travel along Road Permits R07751 Sec 39-70, R07751 Sec 52700 and R14834 Sec 508.01 to Point 7(49° 7.833′, -120° 26.953′), at the terminus of Road Permit R14834 Sec 508.01. Take a bearing of 162° and travel 823 metres to Point 8(49° 7.412′, -120° 26.739′), the point on boundary of the Cascades Natural Resource District. Travel south along the Cascades Natural Resource District Boundary to Point 9(49° 0.029′, -120° 24.174′), at the junction of Cascades Natural Resource District and the Canada-USA International Border.

South Boundary: Commencing at Point 9, continue west along the Canada-USA International Border back to Point 1.
